The BANISHMENT
The Greek Gods. led by Zues ban together to banish Erebos, God Of Darkness from their astral plane and universe for betraying his sister Nyx. Since they did not wish to inflict any damage on any other universe, and because their hatred for Erebos was so complete, they created a new, completely empty universe in which for him to languish in loneliness and agony with one of Zues' thunderbolts lodged forever in his ribs.

RISE OF kael, THE STYGIAN ASCENDANT
Unbeknownst to The Greek gods, Erebos had stolen their secrets of creating life. He started accumulating a massive sphere of his dark energy. Then created an outer crust, upon which he molded his mystic shadows into vast oceans. Enormous crags of rock and black soil spiked forth from beneath the waves to form colossal land masses. Then seeded twisted and creeping plant life. Wild, fierce animals were not far behind. Finally after hundreds of years of patient failures, Erebos created his first human. He named him Kael and begins his tutorship. This first Son of Shadows was a completely blank slate for the dark god to mold as he wished. He imbued him with great power and fierce passion, but also balanced the personality with forethought and righteousness.

THE Tome magnum
Nysera (a name meaning Child of Night), the great granddaughter of Kael, writes the Tome Magnum after an 89 year lifetime of tutelage under her ancestors. This marks the first written compendium of the history, populace and fundamental magicks of the world of Erebos.
When Erebos completed the creation of his realm, the sudden surge of stygian energy rippled through the sector, marking the first synchronization of the pulsar core with the new reality's architecture. This event, later recorded as the Black Dynam, shifted the foundations of the astral plane forever. It unified all of the energies created by various disciples of Erebos who cornered their own little piece of the god's lifeforce. Once again whole, the Black Dynam flowed into and through seven known descendants of Kael, and therefore the god Erebos himself. Stretched between all of these scions, it enveloped and intertwined with every molecule of the world of Erebos, but only a few with ties to the original Seven Scions could weild it.

THE SEVEN FACTIONS
Following the collapse established in the prior age, seven distinct ideological and martial factions emerged from the Seven Scions' followers. Each faction claimed a piece of the Dark God's legacy, vying for spiritual and technological dominance in the void of Erebos.

THE GREAT WAR
The escalation of tensions between Erebos' Seven Factions led to a conflict that reshaped the cosmic landscape of the new universe. Eventually it came to be known that one of the factions held more power, due to their Scion's piece of the Dynam being forged from the area of the Dark God Erebos' energy that was blended with Zues' Thunderbolt. The remaining six factions agreed to unite to prevent the Gamal Faction from dominence.

THE STANDOFF/ CREATION OF HOUSES
As the war dragged on over the years, necessity proved the Gamal Faction was indeed growing in power and the Great War was negotiated to end in a Stalemate. From the silence of the void, the Great Houses were established as the only remaining structures capable of maintaining order in a world teetering on the edge of total dissolution.

Harax Lor Translation
The leading scholar of the time, Harax Lor decyphers the Tome Magnum from the Old Language that had been lost over the centuries. This unlocked the first true bridge between the Stygian Mysticism and human comprehension. This breakthrough translation allowed the budding Houses to stabilize their Black Dynam connections, turning erratic energy surges into a controlled, yet dangerous, source of planetary power. But Lor left out an incredibly important segment of his translation, afraid it would lead to yet another blood-soaked war.

The Black Seige
The second most powerful house, House DeBeaux had been growing increasingly greedy and power hungry. The most recent regent, Madame Christine DeBeaux, was the ultimate representation of all these foul qualities. She was relentless in her quest for power and immortality and eventually had her own scholars find the secret Harax Lor had left out of his public translation of the Tome Magnum.
